Quantitative Tissue Characterization Program, Computing and Color-Mapping of Ultrasound Parameters for Computerized Diagnosis of Liver Pathologies

چکیده
In this paper a new quantitative tissue characterization (QTC) program was developed for computing a standardized sets of parameters and quantitative color-mapping of these parameters for non-invasive accurate diagnosis of liver pathologies. In this program, histogram, co-occurrence matrix, runlength matrix, gradient texture feature coding, backscattering, attenuation and speckle parameters were numerically calculated and color mapped in the ultrasound image. The standardization of these parameters using AIUM tissue phantom simulating liver texture, were done for accurate differentiation and estimation of the quantitative parameters. A QTC program was linked to the Neural Net and Fuzzy Logic modules so as to diagnose an unknown liver pathologies. This program is used for quantification and calculation of physical properties of tissues, color mapping of such properties and diagnosis of these tissues. Also it can be extended for real time color mapping of ultrasound parameters with motion.

Texture Feature Classification of Liver Sonography Using Fuzzy Similarity Measures
It is difficult to differentiate diffuse liver diseases, namely cirrhotic and fatty livers from normal one by visual inspection from the ultrasound images. The need for computerized tissue characterization is thus justified to assist quantitatively the sonographer for accurate differentiation. In this paper a novel approach of tissue characterization using pattern recognition techniques is deve...

متن کاملAssessment of transvaginal ultrasonography accuracy in the diagnosis of uterine pathologies in women with abnormal uterine bleeding
Abstract Background: The most common causes of abnormal uterine bleeding in women of reproductive age are uterine structural abnormalities. There are several modalities for the examination of abnormal uterine bleeding, including transvaginal ultrasound and hysteroscopy. In this study, we aimed to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of hysteroscopy versus transvaginal ultrasound in the diagnosis...
متن کاملThe Role of the Superior Order GLCM in the Characterization and Recognition of the Liver Tumors from Ultrasound Images
The hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most frequent malignant liver tumor. It often has a similar visual aspect with the cirrhotic parenchyma on which it evolves and with the benign liver tumors. The golden standard for HCC diagnosis is the needle biopsy, but this is an invasive, dangerous method. We aim to develop computerized, noninvasive techniques for the automatic diagnosis of HCC, bas...

Fatty liver disease (FLD) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease in fish in the whole world. In the present study, the hepatoprotective effect of preparatıon Vitasil content extract of Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) was evaluated by ultrasound examination of liver and measuring biochemical parameters of liver function. 240 carp were randomly assigned into three groups (two experimen...
